CONCEPT

A variable poster that uses a unique cellular automaton algorithm.

The algorithm, in which a large number of cells laid out in space interact with neighboring cells and change their own state over time, is a simple rule, yet it behaves similarly to the life and death and the mechanisms of society.

I cut out a moment of typography and printed it with inkjet-printer. By deliberately fixing the image on paper with physical-properties, I aimed to create an organic visual that evokes the workings of life and the chain of thought, rather than staying in the digital realm of expression.

独自のセルオートマトンアルゴリズムを使用した、変動するポスター。
空間に敷き詰められた多数のセルが近隣のセルと相互作用し、自らの状態を時間的に変化させていくアルゴリズムは、シンプルなルールでありながら、生命の生き死にや、社会の仕組みと似た挙動を見せる。
変化を繰り返したタイポグラフィーの一瞬を切り取り、インクジェットでプリント。あえて物性を持った紙に定着することで、デジタル領域の表現に留まらず、生命の営みや思考の連鎖を想起させる有機的なビジュアルを目指した。
